Overview

The objective for the Application Architect program is to teach individuals how to design and implement Microsoft ASP.NET MVC applications using .NET framework 4.5 applications tools and technologies. The focus will be on coding activities that enhance the performance and scalability of a web application for PCs running a Microsoft Windows® operating system. Students will also be provided with an introduction to HTML 5, CSS3 and JavaScript. The program focuses on using HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript to implement programming logic, define and use variables, perform looping and branching, develop user interfaces, capture and validate user input, store data and create well-structured applications. The student will also learn how to design and develop services that access local and remote data from various sources including SQL databases. Students will learn to write basic Transact-SQL queries and how to properly maintain a SQL Database. Students will utilize lab environments to learn how to develop and deploy services to hybrid environments, including on-premises servers and Windows Azure. A Certificate of Completion will be awarded upon successful completion of this program.

The lab scenarios in this course are selected to support and demonstrate the structure of various application scenarios. They are intended to focus on the principles and coding components/structures that are used to establish an HTML5 software application and an ASP.NET web application. This course uses Microsoft Azure (Cloud) Technologies, Visual Studio 2012 running on Windows 8 and Microsoft SQL 2012 Servers.

Program Description

The core training for this program is defined by the competencies emphasized in attaining the Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) certification credential in the SQL Database Platform and an (MCSA) in the following web technologies, HTML5 JavaScript and CSS3.  The core training for this program is also defined by the Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) App Builder certification.  These certifications ensure that the holder possesses competencies in creating, developing, maintaining, and deploying.Net web applications and SQL Databases. Earning an MCSA: Web Applications certification qualifies students for a position as a web developer or web administrator. Earning an MCSD App Builder certification validates that students have the skills need to build modern mobile and web applications and services. Students in the Application Architect Program will be provided with hands-on learning in order to ensure that they receive ample experience in both structured learning and “real world” cloud environments.

Please Note: In order to achieve the MCSA SQL, MCSA Web Applications and MCSD App Builder certifications covered within the Application Architect program, all students must sit for and pass the following exams:

  • Exam: 70-761: Querying Data with Transact- SQL
  • Exam: 70-762: Developing SQL Databases
  • Exam: 70-767: Implementing a SQL Data Warehouse under Microsoft
  • Exam: 70-480: MCSD: Programming in HTML5 with JavaScript and CSS3
  • Exam: 70-487: Developing Microsoft Azure and Web Services
  • Exam: 70-486: Developing ASP.NET MVC Web Applications
