TO HOLD WIRELESS MIAMI-DADE TOWN HALL MEETING
(MIAMI, September 12, 2006) – Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez is hosting a town hall meeting on Thursday, September 21, 2006, at 7:00 p.m., at Miami Senior High School, located at 2450 SW 1st Street, to discuss and get input from the public on his Wireless Miami-Dade Initiative, which seeks to offer low-cost, high-speed internet access throughout the 2,000 square miles that make up Miami-Dade County. Mayor Alvarez will be joined by Ana Rivas Logan, Miami-Dade Public School Board Member and a member of the Wireless Steering Committee; and William D. Talbert III, President and CEO of the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau and Chairman of the Wireless Steering Committee.
Wireless Miami-Dade can offer countless benefits to residents, visitors and businesses. It can make Miami-Dade County more technologically appealing to companies seeking to relocate, strengthen education, and improve government services, including traffic flow and public safety.
“As we press forward with this initiative, it is important we hear from residents regarding what they would like see and what their concerns are with regard to wireless technology,” said Mayor Carlos Alvarez. “The upcoming town hall meeting is the place where residents can help local government develop a roadmap and recommend a plan of action for a Wireless Miami-Dade.”
